Akron-based Myers Industries is announcing plans to close a pair of Stark County production facilities.

The manufacturer of sustainable plastic and metal products says the closure of the Alliance facilities is part of a cost-cutting plan to increase profitability.

More than 150 employees are expected to lose their jobs when the shutdowns begin at the end of next month.
