Fugitive Suspect Killed In Stark County, Police Officer Shot

A Monday standoff at a Stark County motel ended in the shooting and killing of a suspect and the shooting of a local police officer.

Authorities, including the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, tracked down a suspect described as violent and wanted out of West Virginia at a Rodeway Inn in Jackson Township.

After an hours-long barricade, authorities say the suspect opened fire hitting a North Canton police officer and leading other officers to return fire killing the fugitive.

The injured police officer is expected to make a full recovery.
