While his band was in town this past weekend to play a jam-packed NRG Stadium, Metallica drummer and fine art fan Lars Ulrich had some nice things to say about Houston's art scene.

Fans of the band won't be surprised by the Danish-born metal drummer's arty predilections, as he's been a serious art collector for years.

In a scene from the band's 2004 "Some Kind of Monster" documentary fans get to see Ulrich selling $13 million in paintings from his own art collection at a 2002 auction.

"There's a great thriving art scene here. All the things that I'm into are here in Houston," Ulrich told KTRK-TV. "Houston is one of my favorite cities."
